I’ve been playing bass since I was 13, back when I lived in Kansas City, Missouri. It was in 1997 when I bought my first bass, and that's when I started playing live with worship teams. Since 1999 I’ve also been doing private instruction. I moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and have played with a wide array of bands and artists, including Jess Penner, Aaron Shust, Aaron Lindsey, Leon Timbo, Son of Levi, Jordan Lara, Johnny Strat, Marie Wise-Hawkins, Falcon Rhodes, Chelsea J and Andrea Hamilton. I love and appreciate all genres of music ranging from D'Angelo to Radiohead to The Mars Volta to Led Zeppelin. I specialize in harmonics, tapping, progressive rock, funk, gospel, motown, and R&B. I play MTD American and Kingston Saratoga 5 string basses. I love to create and to teach others to create their own flavor and style.

Daniel is the most incredible and talented bass guitar teacher available today. His love of music and his desire to transfer his talent to his students encouraged me to be the best musician I can be. As an older student, he encouraged me to take pride in my musical accomplishments. He will be my teacher and mentor until I can’t hold the bass anymore.

Daniel is that rare combination of true musician and teacher. He understands that everyone learns differently, and adapts teaching strategies to resonate with each student. He is patient and encouraging, and personally invests himself. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone, no matter what stage of the musical journey you’re in.

Daniel wouldn’t tell you this, but he’s a BEAST of a musician, and he transcends genre with his skill! I love listening to him, playing with him, AND the greatest blessing of all is that he is an exquisite teacher! My son is now a bassist and guitarist because of him, and his rapport is genuinely life giving with all humans young and old. Hire him immediately!

I’ve had lessons with Mr. Daniel since I was in elementary school and now I’m a junior in high school. He’s very flexible in his teaching style, for example, I have a Spotify playlist that shares some of my favorite songs and he teaches me based off what I add on the playlist. He simplifies music theory so I can understand it easily and I always look forward to our weekly lessons!

He has a plan for every lesson and offers a good mix of student-led and teacher-led lessons. D-Rob always shows great enthusiasm and knowledge of each piece and, what I really appreciate, is that he clearly prepares to learn each piece he’s unfamiliar with—my kids choose some pretty non-mainstream pieces—on his own time.

Modal concepts and expressions in different idioms have my mind blown. I'm becoming a musician, that step beyond guitarist. We go at my pace. Patience with creativity builds confidence. DRob be an amazing guitarist, BTW. And this guy has the audacity to be as punctual as your grandma's old wall clock. Can't say that about many musicians.
